Dusseldorf – August 30, 2017 – ZTE, one of the world’s leading telecommunications equipment and systems companies, will present its latest 5G innovations at IFA 2017. The company, which has already played a leading role in the LTE technology industry, has set itself the goal of driving the 5G evolution.
“Each year ZTE invests €250 million into 5G research and development. At present, there are 3,000 specialists working in a dozen ZTE research institutions across China, Japan, USA and Europe,” said Bill Xiang, CEO, ZTE Devices Europe.
5G: A step into the future
ZTE is already a pioneer of 5G technology and cooperates with numerous partners in testing. Only recently, field tests of the new 5G technology have been completed in China and the technical performance and suitability of the products used for commercial use in the real network environment have been confirmed. To date, ZTE has invested significant resources into 5G testing and expects the first commercial deployments to roll-out in the third quarter of 2018, with commercial availability of 5G on a large scale expected by the first quarter of 2019.
Experience high-speed at IFA
At IFA, visitors can experience a preview of the new technology. ZTE will present the world’s first prototype Gigabit smartphone – based on the Qualcomm? Snapdragon? 835 platform – which leverages ZTE 5G technology to achieve download speeds 10x times faster than standard LTE devices. The new technology enables 360° panoramic VR video, delay-free cloud access, seamless streaming of music or movies, as well as instant apps without previous download or installation.
New smartphones showcased at IFA
In the USA, ZTE recorded 36% growth in the last quarter, ranking fourth with a market share of 11.5%. In Germany, ZTE ranks fourth, with a market share of 5%, and is expected to reach 7% in the next 12 months, thanks to closer cooperation with network operators, investment in marketing, and product innovations. Among these innovations are the brand new mid-range smartphones Blade V8 64 GB and Blade V8 mini, which will be showcased at IFA. The new devices underline ZTE’s focus in the middle and premium segments.
